General Summary: The Staff Accountant will primarily be responsible for period close activities including the preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and related analysis. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant ensures all responsibilities are completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statutory Accounting Principles, and regulatory filing requirements while adhering to company policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares journal entries Prepares general ledger reconciliations Assists in the preparation of footnotes for GAAP financial statements for their area of responsibility Assists in preparation of schedules and footnotes for quarterly statutory statements for their area of responsibility Analysis of financial information Manages reporting compliance with various state and federal regulations Documents processes and procedures Assist with internal and external auditor questions Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant area Experience performing general ledger account reconciliations and analysis preferred Experience with automated General Ledger programs strongly preferred Intermediate to advanced Excel skills strongly preferred Good organization skills with ability to multitask effectively Good problem solving and analytic skills Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Statutory and/or GAAP accounting experience preferred Experience using Oracle Financials, particularly General Ledger, preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed aboveSDL2017
