•Oversees the Instructional Coordinators assigned to schools and works in collaboration with area superintendents and site administrators in helping students with learning disabilities improve their academic performance;
•Monitors students with learning disabilities results and aligns resources to impact these students; assures prompt, direct, effective service to students to facilitate improved academic performance;
•Aligns local school student performance goals with those of WCSD assuring that the needs of all significant stakeholders in schools are addressed;
•Leads special education programming, including behavior, Autism and CLS programming;
•Provides technical assistance to site administrators regarding the provision of instructional and related services for students with disabilities as well as district, state and federal mandates;
•Serves in a problem-solving capacity for parents with disabilities;
•Serves as liaison as appropriate to community groups and public agencies;
•Assists with extensive policy development and analysis and policy interpretation; and
•Acts as a liaison for all principals to foster an environment conducive to implementing inclusionary educational practices.
