SUMMARY: As senior level coding specialist, assigns compliant, complete and accurate coding MS-DRG's, ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, and Present on Admission (POA) indicators for the hospital inpatient, LTACH and rehabilitation services based upon the clinical documentation provided within the medical record. Works collaboratively with other members of the coding team to complete all essential responsibilities in a timely fashion to meet the quality, utilization, and financial needs of the organization. Ensures complete and accurate abstraction of the medical record data. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The specifications listed below are representative of the education and experience as well as knowledge, skill and ability required. Required credentials and experience . Associate's degree in health information technology from an accredited program. . AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Approved Trainer. . Minimum of one of the following credentials: o AHIMA RHIA o AHIMA RHIT o AHIMA CCS . Active AHIMA membership . Three years of previous hospital inpatient coding experience required.
