Nicotine Free Statement: To further our mission in providing quality, compassionate care to everyone, effective January 1, 2017, Barton Health will no longer hire individuals who use or test positive for nicotine. Barton Health promotes a healthy and safe environment for all Associates, Physicians, Volunteers, Patients, and Vistors. Therefore, all individuals whose pre-employment drug test results are positive for nicotine will have their job offer rescinded, and they will be disqualified from applying for employment for ninety (90) days from the date of the health screening.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide professional nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department, utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. Emergency Care is provided based on ages of the population served; Neonate, birth to 1 month - through geriatric - 65 years or older. The Emergency Department RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the Emergency Department.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

* Completion of an accredited Nursing program

* Current California RN license or ability to obtain prior to hire date

* Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date

* Current ACLS & PALS certification prior to hire or must enroll and complete the first available Barton University course

* Must complete first available Barton University Management of Assultive Behavior course

* Must complete MICN certification within one year of hire, if hired as a full-time status

* Must complete the requirements for Moderate Sedation Procedures within 6 months of Hire

* TNCC and CEN preferred

Minimum Experience

* Previous team leadership experience required

* Sufficient computer skills are required to complete an online application and the pre-employment annual training requirements

* In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred

Physical Demands

* Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking/sitting

* Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

* Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfer patients

* Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs

* Exposure to stressful environments that may include communicating with difficult individuals in emotional situations

* Contact with patients and guests under a wide variety of circumstances

* Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases

* Exposure to infections and contagious diseases

* Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including the handling of emergency or crisis situations

* Subject to pressure due to irregular hours, frequent interruptions and stressful situations due to multiple demands
