The Biggest Little Bites Pass, a digital passport offering deals and discounts at food and drink establishments in Reno and Sparks, recently launched. Twenty spots are currently participating in the passport.

Cost: $25. Visit here for passport purchase and details. The passport is delivered via email or smartphone text. There is no app to download. Passport good for 30 days from date of purchase. Deals/discounts can be redeemed once.

Community food pantries are seeking donations

The Biggest Little Free Pantry, a community food pantry whose motto is “Take what you need/Leave what you can,” is encouraging donations of food, drink, toiletries, female care products and school supplies. The program has three pantries in Reno and one in Sparks. Locations/details.

The right crust: Battle Born hosts paella cook-off

From 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 12, Battle Born Beer, 360 E. Fifth St., is presenting the 2nd Annual Reno Paella Cook-off featuring professional chefs and home cooks in a judged contest to cook the best paella. The dish can be challenging to prepare with the proper socarrat, the crisp caramelized crust of rice (never burned!) at the bottom of the pan.

Besides the competition, the event features paella tasting, drinks and music. General admission tickets are $40 (paella plate, two drinks); VIP tickets are $100 (all-you-can-enjoy food and drink, brewery seating). Details/ticket purchase.

Dinner benefit for Hot August Nights Foundation

Beginning 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18, the Hot August Nights Foundation, the charitable arm of the annual Hot August Nights celebration of classic cars, is presenting its Classics & Cocktails fundraiser at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, 3800 S. Virginia St.

The event features cocktails, dinner, live and silent auctions, raffle, entertainment, and folks speaking about how they benefited from the Foundation’s education programs for at-risk youth. Tickets: $100 individual, $800 table, sponsorships begin at $1,000.

Fiesta on Wells during Hispanic Heritage Month

Fiesta on Wells, a celebration of Latinx heritage, runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19 on South Wells Avenue. The Fiesta takes place during National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) and features food, music, booths, dance and other entertainment. Visit here for details or call 775-378-7025.
