From soup to knives: Cooking classes in October

Plus: chugging beer from a boot, sipping wine from a glass

Truckee Meadows Community College is presenting food and drink classes in October through its Educational Programs Inspiring the Community (EPIC). Visit the EPIC site for class registration/locations/details.

•  Savory Curry runs 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 and features hands-on cooking of golden Thai curry. Cost: $59. Register by Oct. 12.

•  Be Your Own Barista runs 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 23 and features practice of brewing techniques using different equipment. Cost: $59 plus $10 materials fee. Register by Oct. 16.

•  Vietnamese Soups runs 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 and features hands-on cooking of classic Vietnamese soups. Cost: $89 plus $40 materials fee. Register by Oct. 18.

•  Knife Skills runs 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 and features food preparation techniques using different knives. Cost: $85. Register by Oct. 19.

Art and wine fundraiser at National Automobile Museum

From 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1, the National Automobile Museum, 10 S. Lake St., is presenting its Art, Autos and Wine benefit showcasing the work of 12 regional and local artists. The event features wine tasting, appetizers, live music and art to purchase. Tickets: $25. Purchase/details.

Lager! Stein holding! Food trucks! Oktoberfest at Revision

From 3 to 7 p.m. October 9, Revision Brewing Co., 380 S. Rock Blvd., Sparks, is presenting its Oktoberfest Party with beer, food trucks, live music, attire contest, and games like stein holding and das boot chug. Details.

3rd Thursday from 39 North returns to Victorian Plaza

39 North, a nonprofit dedicated to reviving downtown Sparks, is hosting its 3rd Thursday gathering from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 21 on Victorian Plaza in Sparks. The event features food and drink, chef demonstrations, crafts, an art walk and live entertainment. Details.

Anthony’s Chophouse hosts Stag’s Leap Cellars wine dinner

Beginning 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28, Anthony’s Chophouse in the Nugget Casino Resort, 1100 Nugget Ave., Sparks, is presenting several courses paired with wines from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars of Napa Valley. Tickets: $169 exclusive of taxes and fees. Purchase/details.
